Following up the announcement made earlier this week, AT&T is now offering the Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Both tablet are available at att.com and nationwide in AT&T retailers.

The Samsung ATIV smart PC runs on Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system (with the option available to upgrade to Windows 8 Professional). The tablet houses an 11.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It also offers a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM.
Running on Windows 8 the device promises full compatibility with existing software and applications that have run on older Microsoft operating systems, making transitioning to the new OS a breeze.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Consumers who purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, will be able to connect to AT&T's wireless network (data plan required). The new extended connectivity, in conjunction with the devices powerful 7,000 mAh battery, provides users with a strong level of long lasting productivity.
Other highlights of the device include its 10.1-inch display with a 1280 x 800 resolution, a 1GHz dual-core processor, and 1GB of RAM. The tablet also houses 16GB of internal storage, and is microSD compatible offering up to 32GB of additional storage. Unlike the Samsung ATIV smart PC, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

A number of carriers have already introduced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to their lineups. The latest to pick up the 4G-enabled version of this mid-range Android tablet is T-Mobile.
A WiFi-only version of this device debuted months ago, but the one that has debuted from T-Mobile boasts built-in support for this telecom's 4G HSPA+ network. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is available now on T-Mobile's website for $400. This price includes a $50 instant discount and a $50 mail-in rebate.

As its name spells out, the device has a 10.1-inch touchscreen. This has a relatively-low 1280 x 800 resolution (149 ppi).
The new version has been upgraded a bit over the WiFi-only one. It sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (up from a 1GHz dual-core) and 1GB of RAM. Other features include 16GB of on-board storage (up from 8GB), a microSD memory card slot, and a 7000 mAh battery
An area that has not been upgraded is the operating system. The Tab 2 10.1 runs the somewhat aging Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but Samsung is working on a 4.1 upgrade for this tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet

Consumer Report has announced 2012’s top electronic devices testing and ranking 600 different electronic devices, including everything from smartphones to HD-TVs and digital cameras and everything in between. Number one on the list is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. Amazons Kindle fire came in at number 7. Notably absent from the list is the Apple iPad

Here’s yet another blow for Apple, which is embroiled in a multi-billion dollar battle with Samsung.

Consumer Reports, a magazine that reviews consumer products, recently pitched Samsung Galaxy Note, and not the market-dominating iPad, as the most groundbreaking tablet of 2012.

Based on performance and innovation, the magazine noted that “the 10-inch Galaxy Note adds capabilities that no other tablet, not even the Apple iPad, currently offers. An excellent performer overall, it almost matches the superb battery life of the iPad and adds a memory-card slot that its rival lacks.”

On the design front too, many reviewers feel that the Galaxy Note scores over the third generation of iPad. For instance, the Apple iPad 3 has an all aluminum back and glass front, which makes the device heavy. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note has gone for a plastic construction, which makes it easy to hold for long hours.

But if its style over substance, the iPad 3 is the best choice as it “looks and feels like the premium option,” according to an IBTimes review.

Microsoft Surface RT has the best display, says report

Interestingly, Microsoft’s recently-released tablet, the Surface RT, has trumped Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Apple's iPad 3 in a series of tests conducted by display testing firm DisplayMate Technologies, according to Books & Review.
